Revision Hip Replacement

Revision hip replacement, also known as revision total hip arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure performed when a previous hip replacement (total hip arthroplasty) fails or wears out. This procedure aims to repair or replace components of the artificial hip joint that have loosened, become damaged, or infected.

Indications for Revision Hip Replacement are mechanical failure (loosening, wear, or breakage of components), infection in the joint (septic hip), dislocation of the replaced hip joint, chronic pain and instability, periprosthetic fractures (fractures around the hip implant) & other complications from the primary hip replacement

Then new implants are implanted, which may include a combination of metal, plastic, and ceramic components.
